Clare Fox Ringwall
Clare began her career as an English teacher and taught at the middle and high school level for more than 15 years. Currently, she is the Assistant Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Innovation Academy Charter School in Tyngsboro, Massachusetts. Clare officially joined the IACS staff in the fall of 2012, but she has worked with teachers from both the middle and high school since 2006 as Director of the New Teachers Collaborative (NTC), a state-approved teacher training program at the Theodore R. Sizer Teachers Center in Devens, MA. Prior to her work at NTC, Clare taught English for many years at Brookline High School where she had many opportunities to design and implement new curriculum including courses on literary journalism, critical reading, and interdisciplinary seminars on public policy and social justice. Clare was a founding member of the Francis W. Parker Charter Essential School in 1995. She first began training and consulting in 1997, when Massachusetts was first introducing curriculum frameworks and preparing to implement MCAS. Over the past twenty-five years, she has been helping educators throughout the state adjust to the changing landscape in education while maintaining a focus on what matters most: keeping intact teachers’ passion for students and learning, and helping them succeed in the classroom. She has led many workshops and has coached teachers and administrators on assessment, literacy, school leadership, mentoring, and meeting the needs of new teachers. Clare earned her Bachelors at Brown University where she graduated with a degree in Creative Writing and a secondary education teaching license.
