Mary Lammi, MEd
With over two decades of leadership in public education, Mary Lammi centers her instruction on the strategic development of student support services and on creating equitable learning environments. As the Assistant Superintendent for Student Support Services for Needham Public Schools, Mary provides executive oversight for a comprehensive range of programs, including special education, counseling, health services, and ELL initiatives. Her work is grounded in the belief that true inclusion is not a secondary service, but a foundational pillar of every successful school community.
Mary’s commitment to systemic change is further reflected in her oversight of the district’s METCO program, where she works to ensure the success and belonging of students within this historic voluntary desegregation initiative. Additionally, she serves as a lead facilitator of the district’s Race Equity Access and Leadership (REAL) Coalition. In this role, she guides collaborative efforts to dismantle institutional barriers and foster a culture of racial equity that permeates every level of the school district.
Before moving into district-wide executive leadership, Mary developed a deep operational understanding of the field as a Director of Special Education and a Building Administrator. Her career has been defined by a "whole child" approach, ranging from expanding specialized autism and therapeutic programs to leading large-scale administrative restructures that improved student outcomes. This unique trajectory, from managing special education programs to administering complex federal grants such as IDEA and ESSA, enables her to bridge the gap between high-level policy and the daily realities of the classroom.
A passionate advocate for Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and community collaboration, Mary has spent years mentoring educators and partnering with families to foster environments where every learner belongs. In her courses, she translates years of high-level administrative oversight into practical, actionable strategies, helping educators build classroom cultures that are as compassionate as they are compliant.
