For me, AthenaK12 is the culmination of a career immersed in promoting the personal and professional growth of educators.

My first five years in the secondary math classroom were intense, exhilarating, and daunting - and I quickly learned to rely on mentors and friends as a lifeline while seeking opportunities to improve my teaching. Training I received as a member of the Coalition of Essential Schools team opened my eyes to the idea of true innovation and collaboration among the adults in the school community. Later, an opportunity to work at MA DESE during Education Reform provided me with perspective and skills in delivering professional development. It was then that I truly began to understand the need to make learning for educators strategic, connected, and relevant. When I stepped into the school administrator role, I found myself supporting my whole staff with impactful professional development. This work led me to a long and fulfilling role as a trainer and leader in a non-profit where I honed my ability to support educators across New England in developing a mindset of continuous improvement and excellence.

I have the deepest respect for the work educators are doing and have developed a true passion and commitment for contributing to the professional growth of others. It’s been a pleasure to share that enthusiasm as a trainer in mathematics, instruction, assessment, curriculum, induction, leadership, PLCs and teams.  Mostly, I love that I continue to grow and learn as I partner with district decision-makers to ensure that their professional development programming is customized, guided by their values and vision, consistent with best practices, and most importantly, making a difference.
