Jim Donovan, EdD

Dr. Jim Donovan is a seasoned educator and school leader with over 14 years of experience as a building administrator in high-performing districts. He currently serves as the principal of Foxborough High School in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Prior to this role, Dr. Donovan was principal of Duxbury High School, where he also held positions as assistant principal and music educator at the Chandler School, Alden School, Duxbury Middle and High Schools.


In addition to his leadership roles, Dr. Donovan was an Apple Foundations Trainer for many years, delivering professional development workshops within the Duxbury Public Schools. He has presented at educational conferences such as MassCue and COSN and has taught courses through Fitchburg State University. His work includes leading three separate initiatives to redesign school master schedules to better meet the needs of students and staff. His doctoral dissertation explored the intersection of traditional grading practices and proficiency-based classrooms.


Dr. Donovan holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of New Hampshire, a Master’s in Music Education from Gordon College, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of New England. He is a proud father of three boys that he shares with his wife, an elementary reading specialist.
