John Jordan, MEd
John Jordan brings a wealth of classroom and administrative experience to his work at AthenaK12. With over 30 years of experience as an elementary and middle school principal in Newton, MA, (13 years at Countryside Elementary and 18 years at Brown Middle School), John has developed a deep appreciation for and understanding of the challenges and opportunities for all aspects of leadership. His expertise in areas such as supervision and evaluation, mathematics instruction and curriculum, professional development, community relationships, and building a strong learning environment for both staff and students, make him an invaluable resource in providing guidance to school leaders.
John is known for his care and compassion for his staff, and has demonstrated his commitment to putting students at the center of his school in many ways, including leading a school-based initiative to create a grade 6-8 Advisory program to help students develop resilience, reflection, responsibility and to build relationships between adults and students, and among students. John also co-facilitated Courageous Conversation About Race for two years in the Newton Schools, leading sessions for faculty, staff and students on race and bias in schools. He has also engaged with district initiatives around equity, gender issues, strategic planning, curriculum review, collective bargaining, technology, authentic assessment, and meeting the needs of advanced learners.
John earned a bachelor of science degree in education with a mathematics specialization from Boston University. He earned his Master’s of Education in administration, planning, and social policy with a concentration in schooling and school leadership from Harvard University.
