Leslie Knight, M.S.
Leslie is a secondary STEM educator with nearly 20 years of experience in public schools. She is passionate about the Science and Engineering Practices and Standards for Math Practice and believes that no matter what students choose to do post K-12 education, these practices develop habits of mind that are necessary for ongoing STEM literacy. In addition, she is an experienced instructional coach and believes that all educators deserve high quality coaches to continue to grow their practice. Her coaching comes from a strengths-based mindset and puts people first. She knows that every teacher has a gift to offer their students, and sometimes they need another set of eyes to help highlight that gift. Leslie has written, aligned, and reviewed STEM curriculum, taught science courses for elementary educators, and lives by backwards design principles.
Leslie believes that education is one of the most powerful tools we have for creating a civically engaged, intellectually curious, and more equitable society. She sees educators as powerful role models for students, and seeks to help align classroom practices with the needs of modern society. Leslie is particularly interested in how we make STEM education relevant and engaging to students. She has served as a math and science curriculum director, coach and instructional leader, high school science classroom teacher, and high school assistant principal. She holds a M.S. in Secondary Science Curriculum and Instruction from Indiana University, Bloomington, a B.S. in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis, and completed the Educator Leadership Institute (“ELI”) to earn her MA Administrator licensure.
Personally, Leslie is an avid runner, hiker, and gardener. She lives in the Greater Boston area with her husband, 2 kids, and 3 cats. She strives to live by the Ghandi quote “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
