Lisa Freedman, M.Ed.

Lisa has been working in the field of special education for the past twenty 28 years.  She currently serves as the Director of The Education Collaborative Academy Program, located in Walpole.  TEC Academy is designed for students with academic, emotional and/or behavioral challenges that necessitate a small, structured educational setting. 


Prior to this, for five years, Lisa was the Director of Integrated Preschool for the Westwood Public Schools which included enrollment and engagement of general education and special education students ages 3-5.  In addition, she served as an elementary special education department head for eight years, supervising district wide programs for students on the Autism spectrum, with Language Based Learning needs as well as social emotional disabilities.  Earlier in her career, Lisa was the district Professional Development Coordinator, new teacher coordinator, kindergarten grant coordinator and a high school Special Education teacher. 


Lisa has a keen interest in supporting special education students as well as their teachers and caregivers. She believes in supporting the network around a child to allow for these individuals to provide what is needed for a child to thrive.


Lisa earned her BA in Psychology from University of Pennsylvania and her MEd in Special Education from Lesley College. She is licensed in MA in Special Needs (5-12), as a Special Education Administrator, holds her SEI Administrator Endorsement, and is trained in Orton Gillingham, Project Read: Written Expression & Reading Comprehension, as well as EmPOWER Approach to Teaching Expository Writing.  Lisa has worked in both public and private school settings.
