Lori McEwen, PhD

Dr. Lori McEwen has dedicated her career to fostering educational environments where every student can engage in deep and joyful learning. Her expertise spans key leadership positions within traditional public school systems and charter networks, demonstrating a commitment to innovative and equitable educational practices.

In her recent roles, including Assistant Superintendent of North Attleborough (MA) Schools, Chief of Instruction, Leadership, and Equity for the Providence Public School Department, and Director of Academics for Blackstone Valley Prep Mayoral Academy, Lori has spearheaded the creation of personalized, mastery-based high schools, led curriculum development and instructional initiatives, and developed leadership opportunities for principals and teachers. Her efforts have notably included securing a USDOE grant-funded principal pipeline program and establishing policies to support educational equity.

Currently, Lori applies her rich experience as a consultant, aiding school districts nationwide in strategic planning and the implementation of student-centered changes, with a focus on the Portrait of a Graduate initiative. Additionally, she enriches the field by teaching graduate courses in Instructional Leadership at Boston College and UMASS Dartmouth while conducting educational research.

Her contributions to education have been recognized through her selection as a Distinguished Fellow with the Students at the Center Research Collaborative and her service as an elected school board member in East Greenwich, RI.

Lori holds a BA in Secondary Education and English from Boston College, a Master's in Educational Leadership from UMass/Boston,  and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from Boston College. She is also a certified executive coach, further enabling her to support educational leaders as they navigate systemic change.

Lori and her husband live in beautiful Newport, Rhode Island where they are occasionally joined by their college-aged son and daughter.
