Meredith Wilson, EdM

Meredith’s greatest passion is developing teachers into the best practitioners they can be for their students. She brings her years of experience in both the classroom and at the university level when developing and delivering services to clients. Meredith currently serves as a lecturer and program supervisor at Boston University and an instructional coach for a teacher training program in Boston.

Meredith earned her BA in English at Boston College and went on to earn her EdM in English Education at Boston University. She began her teaching career as a member of the New Teacher’s Collaborative, a Coalition of Essential Schools certification program that exposed her to experts in the field who helped shape her philosophy of education. She then spent close to a decade in the Waltham Public Schools as a middle school English teacher, serving on multiple study groups to improve curriculum and instruction at the grade- and district-level.

Meredith first discovered her passion for teacher development when serving as a mentor teacher for two student teachers. This spark brought her to Boston University where she has delivered instruction for the English Education and Curriculum and Teaching departments in the areas of classroom management, both in person and online, and lesson design and instruction. Meredith has also spent the past 8 years as a program supervisor for BU’s English Education student teachers. She works with school districts to place these pre-service teachers and then conducts observations and coaching sessions to help develop their skills. In support of this work, Meredith also serves as the instructor for the student teaching reflection seminar, investigating problems of practice with her students and helping to guide them through the MA DESE certification process.

In addition to her work for Boston University, Meredith also works as an instructional coach for the Match Education Sposato Graduate School of Education in Boston. She is currently coaching first- and second-year secondary teachers in the writing, analysis and implementation of SMART goals, which they then track for effectiveness through the use of qualitative and quantitative data and reflection. Over the past two years, Meredith has also worked with Sposato students in the classroom as interns, conducting twice-weekly observations followed by coaching sessions focused on developing skills in the areas of classroom management, instruction, and lesson planning.
