Michael Redmon, MEd
Michael Redmon currently serves as the Principal of Thurston Middle School in Westwood, MA. For the past 14 years, Michael has worked as a principal, assistant principal, and special education teacher in both Massachusetts and Vermont. Having served as a Principal for the past nine years in both rural and suburban settings, he has focused his work on creating environments that empower all students and staff to reach their fullest potential as students and educators.
As Principal in Westwood for the past six years, Michael implemented a new school schedule that created extended learning blocks, an advisory program, intervention program, and collaborative team time.
Michael believes in the importance of taking a multi-faceted approach, including building meaningful relationships with students, crafting innovative and flexible bell schedules, designing engaging, standards-based units and lessons, implementing effective intervention models, fostering strong teaming structures, and utilizing assessments and data strategically to drive progress and success.
Michael earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education from Providence College and a Masters of Education in Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix. His Massachusetts certifications include Principal/Assistant Principal (5-8) and Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent.
