Laura Brady, MEd
As an experienced Spanish teacher in grades 1 through 8, Laura Brady has a true passion for writing and evaluating proficiency-based Spanish curricula at both the elementary and middle school levels. Her love of teaching Foreign Language in the Elementary Schools (FLES) was ignited in the summer of 1995 when she participated in an intensive 4-week FLES training program at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. Over the following years she was part of a small team that developed and implemented an innovative curriculum for a new FLES program in the Clayton School District in Missouri. In the years since, she has taught and written curricula at both the elementary and middle school levels, including at the Fessenden School in Newton where she and her husband were dorm parents for 5th through 9th grade boys.
Laura also enjoys teaching and coaching adults. As a life skills coach for adults through Asperger / Autism Network (AANE), she helped each individual come up with a plan for reaching their unique goals and supported their journeys. This job also set off a passion for supporting people with executive functioning challenges.
Laura is currently teaching Spanish to 5th and 6th graders in the Brookline School District where she co-created a proficiency-based curriculum for 6th graders who are Spanish beginners. She also continues to develop thematic lessons for the district-wide 5th grade FLES curriculum, with an emphasis on Comprehensible Input (CI). She received her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and her Master of Arts in Teaching from Washington University in St. Louis.
