Edward (Ted) Hall, Jr., MEd
Since 2015, Ted has worked as the Senior Associate, Great Schools Partnership in Portland, ME. Prior to that, he held positions as Principal at Yarmouth (ME), Dean of Students and Principal at Souhegan (NH) High School, High School Science Teacher at Wayland (MA), High School and Catalina Foothills (AZ) High School, and Senior Associate, Coalition of Essential Schools. Ted holds his MEd in Science Education and BS in Chemistry from University of Maine and is certified as a Principal in Maine (and formerly in NH). Ted believes that positive relationships are the key to learning for students and adults and his educational interests include leadership coaching, instructional practices, competency-based learning, advisory design and implementation, and student voice/choice.
Ted has presented numerous workshops at regional, state, and national level conferences, most recently at the League of Innovative Schools and New England Secondary Schools Consortium meetings, Maine School Management Association conference, the Maine Principals’ Association Fall Conferences, the NEASC Annual Conferences, the State of Idaho Conference on One-to-One Implementation, and Coalition of Essential Schools Fall Forums. Ted has Past Board experience as a Founding Board Member in the School Reform Initiative, a Board Member with the Coalition of Essential Schools, and has been Chair, vice-chair, and a member of NEASC accreditation teams. Currently, he serves as Board Chair for Teens to Trails.
Ted has co-authored the DC Heath Chemistry Lab Manual, and developed curriculum and writing in the fields of science education, energy education, and computer education for National Science Teachers Association, the National Science Foundation, Biological Sciences Curriculum Study, and Human Relations Media.
Personally, he enjoys cycling, cross country skiing, hiking, and kayaking.
