Matt King, EdD

Dr. Matt King has led schools for thirty-six years. For 28 years Matt led three high-performing suburban Massachusetts school districts: most recently as Superintendent of the Wellesley Public Schools (1996-2007), and before that, he was Superintendent/Principal of Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School (1989-1996), and Superintendent/Principal of the Carlisle Public Schools (1979-1989). Additionally, from 2007-2015, Dr. King was the head of the Rashi School, Boston’s Reform Jewish Independent K-8 School.  Matt has published numerous articles and consulted with school administrators throughout the country on school leadership, strengthening school culture and managing conflict. He has also taught graduate courses and helped run summer institutes at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Wheelock College, where he directed a principal certification program. As an instructor for the statewide Leadership Licensure Program run by the Massachusetts School Administrators Association (MSAA), Matt prepared educators to become directors or principals. Matt has served on many boards including Teachers 21 (1998-2006), a non-profit organization committed to systemic education reform, Outward Bound, the Children’s Discovery Museums, and the Anti-Defamation League. A graduate of Colgate University, Dr. King received his M.A.T. from Smith College and his Ed.D. from Harvard University.
