Daniel Mayer, EdD
Dr. Mayer has served as Assistant Superintendent of teaching and learning for the past 18 years in both the Westborough Public Schools and the Maynard Public Schools where he has earned respect for his inclusive leadership style, strong listening skills, and the value he places on connecting with staff.
Dan specializes in strategic planning, curriculum development, professional development planning, data collection and analysis, and consensus building. Most recently, he played a key role in developing the Westborough Public Schools new long range strategic plan. Along with these exceptional skills, he brings a deep knowledge of MA DESE rules and regulations to his consulting work.
Before becoming an assistant superintendent, Dr. Mayer honed his data analysis skills for 7 years as Senior Education Researcher at Mathematica Policy Research where he conducted national multi-million dollar studies and wrote several reports examining the impact of education programs such as Teach for America on student outcomes. In this role, Dr. Mayer also advised the United States Department of Education on survey and research design. Additionally, he has conducted research for The College Board, The Spencer Foundation, the Higher Education Information Center, and the Center for School Improvement.
Dr. Mayer earned his doctorate in Administration, Planning and Social Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, his M.A. in Public Policy from the University of Chicago, and his B.A. in History from Vassar College.
