Testimonials
Don't just take our word for it.
As an Assistant Superintendent, my days are filled with meetings, school visits and more. I am constantly on the go and compartmentalizing between various departments and topics. I rarely have time to self-reflect on my leadership and collaborate with others in the same position. The Affinity Group provides a safe, protected and structured time for me to focus on my own practice and how I am leading the important work in my district. It also provides valuable time with colleagues from across the Commonwealth to gain insight into how they are navigating similar work.
Participating in the Affinity Group helped me strengthen my professional support system and refine my leadership skills. During and between our sessions we connected and shared professional and personal experiences as female leaders. The women I met through this experience have inspired, challenged and empowered me. They have become part of my tribe.
The Affinity Group has been a game changer for me! The role of Asst. Supt. can be lonely at times as you are very often an island of one. This year I have been able to share my questions, concerns and experiences with colleagues who have made me a better administrator. This group has taught me that I have to do a better job of taking care of myself if I want to be able to truly support my principals and educators. They have provided a safe place for me to be vulnerable and reflect on my own path to growth. I truly appreciate all I have gained by being a part of this wonderful supportive group!”
Overall, the most important strength is the women in this group. I have thought the activities have been thought provoking, intended to engender professional growth, and relevant to the myriad things we deal with every day. I have become more conscious of my role as a woman in a leadership position - to understand expectations differently and how I can suppport women leaders in my district.

Special Education IEP Team Chairs InstituteSpecial Education IEP Team Chairs Institute
Create a climate of trust while navigating key obligations.
The team chair is integral in ensuring that the needs of all parties are met. This requires a skillful balancing of curriculum, instruction, student services and family engagement, along with strong relationships with colleagues, students and families. Unfortunately, this work can become conflict-driven, complex and isolating with few occasions for turning experience into wisdom. In a process where optimism, positivity, and belief in the process is critical, you must hone your ability to read the room, set the tone, model and deal with the physical and emotional manifestations of stress.
In this program, you will learn to lead meetings where everyone recognizes that they have shared goals, how to navigate the demands from each stakeholder, and to leverage your daily interactions into opportunities for growth.
