Paraprofessionals are every schools’ VIPs. The role of teaching assistants and paraprofessionals is varied, supporting students with the most complex needs. It can be different in every school and every classroom depending on the students’ needs and the teachers’ needs. Because of this it is important to have a toolkit of effective strategies to support students’ academic, emotional, behavioral and social needs. This series will examine effective strategies for you to draw on as you work with your students.

FEBRUARY 10 - SESSION 1: AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER
Understand what ASD is and is not, the characteristics of autism, and how students with autism can present in school. Discover social, communication and academic strategies, modifications, accommodations and reinforcements you can employ to support students on teh spectrum.
MARCH 10 - SESSION 2: SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING
Explore the core principles of SEL and how building these skills supports students' overall well being, relationships and academic success. Highlight common challenges such as emotional regulation, peer conflict and stress management, while offering practical, evidence-based strategies.
APRIL 14 - SESSION 3: EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING
MAY 12 - SESSION 4: UNDERSTANDING AND MANAGING THE IMPACT OF SCREENS AND TECHNOLOGY ON STUDENTS WITH IEPS
Explore the influence of digital devices on children’s cognitive, emotional, social & physical development. Get clear, research-informed guidance on how to manage technology in ways that support healthy development. Gain practical strategies & insights to collaborate with colleagues to meet the unique needs of your students.
