Coaches have the ability to transform the culture of teaching and learning in schools. Many coaches struggle as they transition from the being the leader in their own classroom to becoming a leader among their peers - unsure how to navigate a position that is somewhere between administrator and teacher.


Building strong relationships while learning to manage the tension among listening, facilitating, and directing is key to the success of this position.


Learn to:

  • Define the role of coach; its purpose and its potential for change
  • Assess your current role; what's working, areas for growth
  • Strengthen your relationships and communication with both teachers and principal
  • Learn coaching moves, questions, prompts & protocols that will improve your leadership of PLCs and team meetings
  • Improve your 1:1 coaching observations of, meetings with, and feedback for, teachers

Impact student achievement by

  • Acting as a thought partner for the teachers and leaders in your building.
  • Encouraging teachers to articulate their planning and thinking process.
  • Using tools for lesson study to help teachers improve instruction.
  • Exploring the challenges and opportunities teachers face in their day-to-day work.

In-person sessions allow for more intensive training opportunities, relationship building and group work.


Remote sessions provide convenient forums to sustain implementation efforts and address ongoing problems of practice.
